Iran has vehemently denounced the recent drone strike carried out by the American government in Iraq, which resulted in the deaths of several members of resistance forces combatting terrorism. Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan’ani asserted that the assassination of Abu Baqir al-Saadi, a prominent commander in the fight against terrorism and Daesh, along with others, epitomizes "American state terrorism."

The US military admitted to conducting the drone strike in Baghdad, acknowledging responsibility for the deaths of three individuals, including the senior commander of Iraq's Kata'ib Hezbollah resistance group.

Kan’ani emphasized that the assassination constitutes a violation of Iraq's national sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as a breach of international laws and regulations. He further condemned the US government's unwavering support for the actions of the Zionist regime against the Palestinian people, framing the drone strike as part of a broader pattern of aggression.

Offering condolences to the Iraqi nation, government, and the affected families, Kan’ani highlighted the attack's timing, coming shortly after a series of US airstrikes in Iraq and neighboring Syria that resulted in nearly 40 casualties.

Characterizing such actions as a threat to regional and global peace and security, Kan’ani called upon the international community and the United Nations Security Council to prevent further unilateral actions by the United States in the region. He stressed the importance of thwarting the expansion of crisis and instability caused by such interventions.
